Biography

Chris Bowen is Australia's Minister for Climate Change and Energy, leading work on climate policy, energy transition and international climate diplomacy.

As President of Negotiations for COP31, he will lead the negotiations process in line with the Türkiye-Australia partnership modalities and in close consultation with Türkiye.

In this role, Chris Bowen will support the conduct of COP31 negotiations, help strengthen common ground among Parties, and contribute to elevating the priorities of Pacific countries and climate-vulnerable communities within the global climate agenda.

Through the Türkiye-Australia partnership, the COP31 process aims to support an inclusive, transparent and results-oriented climate diplomacy platform based on dialogue, consensus and action.
