Biography
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is the President of the Republic of Türkiye and has led the country's visionary policies in the fields of environment, urban development and climate change. Throughout his terms as Mayor of Istanbul, Prime Minister and President, he has pioneered significant steps to strengthen urban infrastructure, increase environmental investments, expand renewable energy capacity and support sustainable development goals.
Under President Erdoğan's leadership, Türkiye has put forward a comprehensive vision that contributes to the global climate agenda through the 2053 Net Zero Emissions Target, the Zero Waste Movement, the Climate Law, resilient cities, green transformation and climate diplomacy.
COP31, to be hosted by Türkiye in Antalya, will serve as an important platform to share this vision at the international level. In line with the will set forth by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Türkiye aims to strengthen climate action throughout the COP31 process on the basis of dialogue, consensus and action.
